My parody of "Annabel Lee"

'Twas maybe yesterday
in a desert town
where a woman lived whom none know

She lived with many thoughts, but never for love of me
I was a man and she a woman
in this desert town

I don't believe this to be the reason of yesterday
in this town in the desert
a ray of sun came from above,
warming my woman
forcing her to the point of restlessness

The spirits of the sand jealous of our mortal lives
As a ray of sun warmed her

'twas our hate that drove us to a tragic end
of many naive souls before me
will never break our eternal bond

The sun never shines
without haunting my thoughts
as she looks down from the clouds on me.

My Parody of "This is Just to Say"

I Have..

I have taken
the money you left on
the desk

With which
you were probably
going to pay for dinner

forgive me
but the money
was so green
and helpless and
needed the warmth
of my pocket.

Poem greatness- She Walks in Beauty

To me, a great poem is a poem that will stand out, that refuses to conform, many great poems are stretched over a vast array of topics, from statues to death, but their reason for being great is never the same. What makes many poems great is their vivid use of creative language, be it old or new. Poems are great by their use of creative rhymes that give the poem not only meaning, but lines that your brain is forced to remember as well.

One element that makes "She Walks in Beauty" a great poem is that it uses a constant barrage of metaphors leading the reader to fall onto the authors path of thought, clearly explaining his thoughts and his indestructible and eternal thoughts preserved by his famous words. An example of this is "...Like the night of cloudless clime and starry skies.." This line is a metaphor transferring Lord Byron's thought that the woman he is describing in this poem is as calm and as clear as the night sky.

Another factor that makes this poem great is Lord Byron's use of imagery. This factor makes the poem great because it helps to transfer Lord Byron's vision to the readers. An example of imagery in "She Walks in Beauty" is "Which waves in every raven tress or softly lightens o'er her face" This line is from a paragraph describing that the woman he is speaking of is elegant in all manners and all places.

A final contributing factor to this poems greatness is its use of colorful, creative and innovative word choice, a vital to any poem of other form of spoken word. Some of them are: serenely, mellow'd, climes and tender. When compiled with the previously listed factors of greatness, the entire poem falls together as it seems it was meant to be.

In conclusion, to me these are just a few of the reasons that this poem is great and will be remembered for many more years. This poem is one of a kind and many poems are great for the same reasons but no poem is the same as another. This poem is great for not its authors ability to use the elements of poem greatness but the poems ability to reach out, connect and be remembered by readers.

What it meant to me

What it meant to me

Everything it meant to me
will eventually be just a memory,
of a time so far and long ago
about to give a death-blow
ending in blood stained decor,
you wouldn't even recognize me anymore
not dashing,
a little more smashing.
Everything it meant to me
will eventually be just a memory,
Adieu, adieu for evermore
for this there will be an uproar
but then no more
if so, we will escape foreshore.

Anger is a sweet box

For this poem, I was assigned a metaphor an i was tasked to make a poem out of it, my metaphor was "Anger is a sweet box"

Anger is a sweet box
only to some
they keep it in a box
stashed in their soul
covered and disguised
to look like a sugar cube .
But if their cube
should bust trust me
that heads will roll.
These people wait
this is a fairly common trait
until they devour
their own sugar cube.

First attempt at a Skeltonic

My First Skeltonic
I have a bag,
it it tends to have a slight sag
making it look like a rag,
but when my dog sees it,
sure does his tail wag. So fast it could cut through fog
or be used as a propeller through a bog
or be used as s spear to hunt a hog
my dog sure loves my bag.
